According to the Naukri JobSpeak report, the healthcare, hospitality, and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors experienced significant year-on-year job growth in 2024, despite an overall conservative market.
As per their survey results, senior professionals and premium job searchers were in the most demand. New AI positions increased by 12% in January 2024 compared to last year.
Naukri reports a significant increase in hiring for specialized AI positions, with a remarkable year-on-year growth of 46% for Machine Learning Engineers and 23% for Full Stack AI Scientists. Traditional AI positions, such as Data Scientist, were also highly sought after. In comparison, there was a meager 1% increase in IT job growth in January 2024 compared to the previous month.
According to Naukri, the year-on-year hiring in the IT sector is currently 19% lower compared to the peak period of January 2023. In January 2024, there was a 7% year-over-year rise in hiring within the Healthcare sector, with the highest demand seen for administrative positions. The travel and hospitality sector experienced a year-on-year gain of 5% in hiring. Due to the continuous growth in both domestic and international tourism, there has been a high demand for Restaurant Managers and Service Managers.
Based on naukri's data, recruitment in this industry was notably elevated in the urban areas of Bangalore and Mumbai. In January of this year, there was a 5% rise in employment offers in the FMCG sector compared to the same month in 2023. An increase in demand in rural areas, supported by a marketing campaign by FMCG companies, resulted in a favorable trend in hiring in the industry. The FMCG sector had significant demand for job roles such as Assembly Line Operator, Factory Head, Production Engineer, and Production Manager.
Naukri said that the BPO and Insurance sectors experienced a reduction in hiring, with a decrease of 16% and 8% respectively. In addition, both the Education and Retail sectors experienced a year-on-year contraction of 7%.
According to naukri, employment offers with salaries over 20 lakhs per annum increased by 18%. There was a slight decrease of 1% in new employment opportunities with wages ranging from 13-20 lakhs per annum. Additionally, there was a decline in new job openings with earnings below 12 lakhs.
In addition, Naukri reported that senior professionals with over 16 years of experience experienced the highest increase in job offers. The recruitment for this particular sector increased by an astonishing 19% in the most recent month, in comparison to the same month in the previous year.
According to their analysis, there was an increase of about 2% in new job opportunities for professionals with 13-16 years of experience. However, professionals with 8-12 years of experience, 4-7 years of experience, and freshers had a decrease of 18%, 7%, and 10% in the number of new positions generated, respectively, compared to January 2023.
