Pets are a part of our everyday life; from the start of the old century until now, most households will surely own a pet or two. This is because there are benefits of keeping pets in the household; studies have shown that owning a pet can increase productivity and lessen stress due to the bond between people and their pets.  

Psychologists have proven that people owning pets positively impacts their happiness. For example, people who are lonely or just want a companion are told to keep a dog or a cat to quell their loneliness. The general public has viewed the idea that pets are not only for companionship but can also serve as substitutes for psychologists or physicians, as living with pets has been shown to improve mental health and longevity. 

The pet care application system helps in dealing with problems which involve pet services. It also brings together the pet owners and the people who provide these services. The use of pet care systems allows pet owners to have the ability to choose what kind of services they need while keeping things like the pricing, proximity, or experience of the pet care service into consideration.  

At home care 

AI use cases are crossing boundaries. In pet care, AI can aid from tracking your pets to take the role of fitness and companionship robots. The trackers can monitor and track most of your pet's daily activities. These devices allow geofencing to notify owners when the pet step outside a designated area. The algorithm can also monitor changes in behavior patterns, enabling the owner to look further and contact the veterinarian if there is a potential health concern. 

Similarly, pet cameras can be used in households, which can connect to apps and communicate with the owner directly through their phone, allowing them to peer in on the pet at any time. The owners can even use cameras to communicate with the pets through microphones.  

Furthermore, AI-powered smart feeders can customize the mealtimes of the pet's schedule, disperse the right quantity for feedings, and even determine if the pet food is running low. It can notify when something unusual is happening in the pet's eating habits.  

Today, robotic vacuums are taking the world by storm with their automatic cleaning abilities. This is great for pet parents as the models can handle the pet hair and mess while the owner is away or doing other chores at home. AI can also be used as a fitness and companionship robot. They can recognize obstacles in the house, such as walls and furniture, to prevent them from getting stuck while playing with their pet.  

Veterinary care 

In addition to home care, AI and ML play a significant role in medical care. Veterinary telehealth is a growing industry that is becoming more and more conveniently available. Some apps can connect devices such as pet cameras and trackers to a veterinarian. Machine learning and AI are very efficient and can provide accurate diagnostics in a medical setting. Concerning diagnostic imaging, ML works by analyzing a bank of images to learn part of the anatomy to properly judge what is normal.  

Similar to how one can monitor their pet at home, veterinarians will be utilizing AI to monitor patients. AI will be able to monitor vital signs, eating and drinking behavior, and notify of anything unusual that needs to be addressed.  

Furthermore, AI can make the drug development process faster and more cost-effective. AI has already made its way into the operating room. AI-based algorithms combined with the precision and control of these surgical robots are revolutionizing surgery into a new age of medical care.
