AI Safety Asia, a non-profit dedicated to AI governance and safety in Asia, in collaboration with the Cooperative AI Foundation, is launching a comprehensive 10-week online course on Cooperative AI. This initiative aims to equip participants with critical insights into the cooperative intelligence of advanced AI systems, fostering both risk mitigation and the enhancement of human-AI collaboration.
Cooperative AI is an emerging field that focuses on improving the ability of AI systems to work together effectively for the benefit of all. This research area addresses the challenges posed by multi-agent interactions in AI systems, ensuring that autonomous entities can collaborate rather than compete in a manner that aligns with human values and ethical principles. Beyond mitigating risks associated with AI deployment, cooperative AI holds immense potential to enhance human cooperation in various domains, from economic decision-making to large-scale global challenges.
The course, running from mid-February to May 2025, will be conducted in small, interactive groups, bringing together selected students from across Asia. While an understanding of computer science, machine learning, and game theory is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite for application. The program is designed to be accessible to a diverse range of participants who share an interest in AI safety and governance.
Applications are currently open and will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Interested candidates must submit their applications before 21st Feb 2025 EoD HKT via the application form.
