Hip-Hop is now in the world of AI. Recently social media was flooded with posts of the AI rapper Mekka introduced by Capitol Records. But unfortunately, the company had to shut down just days later following backlash. The project has drawn criticism online saying it was offensive to the black community.  

It is in this context that India gets its very own AI rapper. MTV Hustle 2.0 launches India's first AI-powered rapper that can rap on any word you want. Unlike Mekka, India's AI rapper is applauded by fans everywhere.  

The rapper is a combination of AI and the rhyming sensibilities of hip-hop music. The AI rapper is considered a revolutionary tech innovation as it breaks new ground across music, entertainment and technology and provides a first-of-its-kind consumer engagement experience for fans. The AI rapper is popular in social media as well.

Meet BotHard 

The innovation is named 'Bot Hard', which stems from the colloquially used Indian phrase "Bohot Hard". Bohot Hard is a rap song or rhyme acknowledged as exceptional in the rap community.  

The inception of BotHard underscores how real human talent in the musical genre of rapping remains unrivalled with skill, practice and finer nuances of musicality, technique and performance.  

MTV, through its show, has been grooming raw talent into industry-ready professionals since its premiere. Complementing this objective, MTV India introduced 'BotHard' by accentuating the power and potential of such talent rooted in creative liberty and individualistic identity that rap history boast of. 

Training the rapper 

The AI was built using the GPT3 platform. It is specially trained to find rhyme structures of popular rappers. The AI is built in such a manner that it has tech first creative approach. It learns and develops its game with each interaction over time. BotHard has caught the attention of the young, tech-savvy audience.  

Viacom's Head in the youth, music and English entertainment cluster regards BotHard as an example of disruptive, trans-media storytelling that complements the raison d’être for the show. The rapper's introduction into India's entertainment space is the producers’ attempt to redefine the consumer experience for the young audience. 

Challenging the rapper 

EPR, the rap sensation also part of the show, had the opportunity to challenge the AI rapper on a national platform. In his opinion, the interaction with the rapper reinforced how the intuitive and visceral human power of storytelling remains unmatched.  

The AI rapper challenged some of the big names in the industry across the globe. BotHard has piqued the curiosity of fans and audiences alike, who can challenge the bot to bust a rhyme on any word.
