The Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit 2023 is conducted in New Delhi at Bharat Mandapam. The GPAI is made up of about 28 member countries as well as the European Union. India is a founding member of the GPAI, a forum that guides the correct development and application of artificial intelligence. The goal of this conference is to discuss AI advancements and breakthroughs. 

On Day 1 of the GPAISummit 2023, a group of esteemed speakers and delegates started the Building Scalable Large Language Models (LLMs) session. 

The session began with an introduction to LLM by Prof. Mitesh Khapra, Associate Professor of Computer Science at IIT Madras. 

The session continued with the discussion of various questions, including the challenges and the future scope of the industries. The speakers include Amitabh Nag, CEO of Digital India Bhashini Division (Bhashini), Digital India Corporation; Prof Mohit Bansal, John R. & Louis S. Parker Professor, University of North Carolina; Prof Mitesh Khapra, Associate Professor, Computer Science, IIT Madras, Americo Carvalho, Head AI and ML, Amazon Web Services, Rohini Srivastha, Chief Technology Officer (India and South Asia), Microsoft, Ankita Sharma, Segment Leader for Conversational AI, NVIDIA, Dr. Vinodkumar Prabhakaran, Co-Lead, Technology, AI, Society and Culture at Responsible AI and human-centred Technologies Organisation, Google and Manohar Paluri, Senior Director, Meta.

The speakers deliberated on the obstacles inherent in the current language paradigms. According to them, a multitude of new models are being released daily. They reflected on the anticipation of more language models in 2024. The delegates said, "We can anticipate significant advancements from the scientific community in the foreseeable future." 

The program has covered a broad spectrum of subjects, including, but not limited to, bias mitigation and multilingual assistance. Exploring ethical utilization and creating models tailored to specific countries were also discussed. This session aims to exchange and acquire knowledge regarding Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLMs). Furthermore, the aim is to enhance understanding and promote networking and professional growth in the LLM and NLP sectors, utilizing research and industry knowledge.
