As part of this mission, the Safe & Trusted AI pillar provides essential guardrails for responsible AI adoption. It enables the development of indigenous tools and frameworks, self-assessment checklists, and governance frameworks and guidelines that embed accountability, fairness, safety, and trust into India’s AI ecosystem.

To spearhead this effort, IndiaAI is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for Stress Testing Tools (STT) — projects that will evaluate AI systems under adverse or extreme conditions to ensure resilience, robustness, and trustworthiness in deployment.

Focus Area: Stress Testing Tools (STT)

This EOI specifically calls for proposals on Stress Testing Tools, which aim to:

• Evaluate AI models under adversarial inputs, data drift, or distributional shifts.
• Assess system behaviour under latency spikes, power/network failures, or large-scale disruptions.
• Identify failure modes, vulnerabilities, and fallback strategies for AI in critical applications.
• Provide standardised toolkits, benchmarks, and simulation environments to measure robustness and safety.
• Move beyond generic IT load testing, ensuring focus on AI behaviour (fairness, privacy, robustness, accountability).

Who Can Apply?

EOIs are open to the following India-based entities:

• Academic Institutes/Organisations (Central/State universities, IITs, IIITs, NITs, IISERs, etc.)
• R&D Institutes/Organisations
• Autonomous Bodies
• Start-ups & Companies (with ≥2 years registration, ≥51% Indian shareholding, not a subsidiary of foreign corporation)
