India's healthcare sector is on the cusp of a transformative revolution driven by the increasing adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI). With the country's vast population, diverse healthcare needs, and limited resources, AI has the potential to dramatically improve patient outcomes, streamline clinical workflows, and enhance the overall efficiency of the healthcare system. From diagnostic accuracy to personalized medicine, AI is being explored in various applications across India's healthcare landscape.

Fractal, a global provider of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to Fortune 500® firms, has recently announced the launch of vaidya.ai, a healthcare AI platform designed to offer individuals easily accessible and free medical help. This follows the prior releases of kalaido.ai, a free text-to-image generator available in 17 Indian languages, and marshallgoldsmith.ai, a coaching assistant by Fractal.

Unlocking Healthcare Access

Vaidya.ai is one of the AI models that demonstrates a high level of performance in understanding and interpreting medical data. When tested on more than 20 years of Postgraduate NEET/PG-Med examinations, a national-level entrance exam in India used to determine students' eligibility for admission to postgraduate medical programs in prestigious medical colleges, it achieved an average accuracy score of 83%.

Fractal used a meticulously chosen dataset with more than 850,000 photos and text entries to train the model. This dataset was gathered using various methods, including open-source, data annotation, data-collection, and synthetic datasets. Multiple Vision-Language Models (VLM) and Large Language Models (LLM), including one with more than 30 billion parameters, are included in this extensive training to guarantee users receive accurate responses.

Srikanth Velamakanni, Co-founder, Group Chief Executive, and vice Chairman of Fractal, said, "The Fractal AI research team is dedicated to unlocking solutions to complex challenges and creating a meaningful impact for the world. vaidya.ai represents a significant step forward in making healthcare more accessible to everyone. Our goal with vaidya.ai is to enhance people's access by providing timely, reliable healthcare information."

Valuable Insights and Information at No Cost

Users can interact with the model on vaidya.ai for free using text and images without further costs or membership requirements. The model can deliver context-specific information, evaluate health reports, and respond to queries in multiple languages. To improve accessibility to healthcare information for non-English-speaking populations, users can upload health reports and receive summaries in Hindi, English, and other Indian languages.

Suraj Amonkar, Chief AI Research and Platforms Officer at Fractal, said, "Vaidya.ai is designed to augment healthcare information and doesn't intend to replace medical advice from medical professionals". "The development involved training models and frameworks using LLM and VLM architectures and validating the models on 20+ years of PG NEET/ PG Medical examination papers, among other metrics, to measure how well the models performed. While it offers valuable insights and information, it always encourages users to consult healthcare professionals for medical advice, he added".

As part of its continuous commitment to development, Fractal aims to expand vaidya.ai's functionality. Future updates will add more specialized medical models and improved multimodal functionalities to ensure that vaidya.ai adapts to meet the demands of the healthcare sector.
