IIT Kanpur has introduced a Certificate Program on Python for Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Deep Learning (DL). The program will include extensive Python projects using practical real-world datasets in several fields, including Business, Medicine, Science, Engineering, and other domains, using numerous cutting-edge packages such as NumPy, Linalg, Matplotlib, Pandas, Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, and Keras. The course duration is 1st to 27th December 2024.

This 4-week certificate program is an intensive course for scholars, students, faculty members, industry professionals, and R&D staff aspiring to gain in-depth exposure and learn hands-on implementation of cutting-edge algorithms and software for AI, ML, Neural Networks (NN), and DL. It is designed for projects, research, and placements to further their careers. The program also includes problem-solving sessions to prepare for tests/job interviews in AI, ML, and DL. According to the university, students will not require prior programming experience. All modules will be held in the evenings and on weekends for the convenience of participants. The extensive projects and Python programming for AI, ML, NN, and DL are of significant value to participants from all backgrounds.

UG and PG students can learn the latest programming techniques in Python and various packages such as NumPy, Linalg, Matplotlib, Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, and Keras, along with practical AI/ML knowledge for projects/theses and to gain an edge in placements. At the same time, PhD scholars and faculty members can use Python and various packages such as NumPy, Linalg, Matplotlib, Pandas, Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, and Keras for research and to establish virtual labs or provide project guidance in AI/ML technologies with real-world datasets. Industry professionals can elevate their skills by learning Python AI/ML and various packages, along with principles of Module Design and Analysis. 

Requirements and Preparation

Participants are required to use a laptop with Python installed. Although participants can use any IDE, the preferred installation is Anaconda and Spyder for Python. A detailed step-by-step procedure to install Anaconda and Spyder for free on Windows can be found in the document provided by the university. 

It is the responsibility of participants to ensure that Anaconda, Spyder, and Python are installed and running smoothly prior to the start of the program. The certification program is self-contained and includes lecture sessions covering theoretical concepts, followed by intensive Python projects for the latest AI, ML, and DL technologies.
