Microsoft Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella, addressed a gathering of developers and technology leaders at the Microsoft Future Ready Technology summit in Bengaluru. While interacting with the developers, startups and technology leaders, Nadella highlighted the crucial role of the developer community in building innovative products and solutions that transform organizations across industries. 

Generative AI is the novel argot of the tech world. While delivering the keynote, Nadella explained his encounter with the Generative AI models such as Dall-E. Though the model did make minute errors, such as calling ‘Biriyani’ a tiffin, the results were astonishing.  

‘Imaginative’ is the word he used to describe his experience with the model. The models can develop images and even write a play. However, there are existing concern such as ethical and responsible use of AI that needs to be addressed. 

The responsible use of generative AI enables the creative completion of our duties. Despite the field, it can break down the barriers and learning curves. “We have to work on the unintended consequences as a developer community”, said Satya Nadella while delivering his keynote address. 

Managing data infrastructure 

The tech industry needs to get its act together in managing the data infrastructure. The question is if we have the robust scale infrastructure for all high-volume data available. It is also important to establish a real-time connection between what is operational and analytics. 

Similarly, data governance should be a matter of significant consideration as it provides clarifications in terms of data security, privacy, data breach and many more. Nadella explained how Microsoft is ensuring this world-class AI infrastructure in matters of training and inference. “We want to marketize the access to these infrastructures so that you all can build on top of it”, said Nadella. 

Microsoft offers the most comprehensive developer toolchain to empower teams consisting of software professionals and frontline domain experts to innovate together so that they can do more with less. Just like the use of programming languages and open source revolutionized the industry, AI is transforming the future of software development with GitHub at the centre of it all.  

AI in India 

Speaking about the enthusiastic works in India, Nadella spoke about SEEDS- Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society, that creates micro-forecasts for disaster relief using satellite imagery.  

The advent of Bhashini, as part of the National Language Translation Mission is a milestone in India’s struggle against the persisting challenges due to language barriers. These are evidence that proves the role of AI in transforming Indian society. “What is happening in India in terms of digital public goods is phenomenal”, said Nadella. “The mature use cases between the technology and the policies, I have not seen anywhere else in the world, like in India”, he added. 

Two models from different parts of the world can connect and create something new. With such developments in technology, we are living in a changed world. In Satya Nadella’s opinion, it is up to us to amplify the impact of this technology in rural India.   

Several leading companies, startups and SIs are innovating with Microsoft and startups across India have participated in the Microsoft for startups Founders Hub program to become enterprise ready.
