In 2024, under IndiaAI Mission's FutureSkills pillar, fellowships were offered to students from top engineering colleges across India. Students undertaking artificial intelligence (AI) projects were considered for the fellowship to help bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, ensuring a workforce proficient in essential AI skills.
The first round of the IndiaAI Fellowship witnessed innovative project submissions from students across diverse themes, showcasing AI's transformative potential in addressing real-world challenges. Students explored applications in the fields of Agriculture, AI Ethics, Education, Finance, Fundamental Research, Language Translation, Manufacturing, Medical advancements, Computer Vision, Human Safety, and other emerging AI themes.
The First tranche of the fellowships has been disbursed to 130 B.Tech and 40 M.Tech students till December end and the remaining applications are being reviewed.
The nominated projects for the first round of the IndiaAI Fellowship initiative focus on diverse applications of AI and related technologies, addressing critical societal, industrial, and environmental challenges. Some notable project titles include ‘Enhancing Biometric Accuracy by Preventing False Positives with High-Resolution Images’, ‘Enhancing Vehicle Safety on Non-Favorable Roads: An AI-Driven Driver Assistance System with Dash Cameras’, ‘Smart Firefighting System Using Computer Vision’, and ‘Monocular 3D Pedestrian Detection Using Transformers’.
