As India continues its push toward responsible and inclusive AI innovation, access to high-quality, India-specific datasets remains a foundational requirement. To that end, IndiaAI, an Independent Business Division under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has launched an Expression of Interest (EOI) to onboard datasets onto AIKosh.

What is AIKosh?

AIKosh is a centralized platform under the IndiaAI Mission aimed at democratizing access to non-personal, anonymized datasets. By serving as a repository, AIKosh enables researchers, startups, non-profits, and academic institutions to contribute and leverage datasets for AI-driven innovation, problem-solving, and public-good applications. AIKosh allows for datasets to be published under varied licenses and let the contributing organization mandate its terms of use. 

What Does the EOI Invite?

This EOI invites organizations from across sectors—including academia, industry, start-ups, civil society, and research institutions—to contribute India-relevant datasets to AIKosh. Contributed datasets should be non-personal, anonymized, and aligned with ethical AI and data governance standards.

Who Can Apply?

EOIs are open to:

• Academic and research institutions
• Startups and companies 
• Non-profit and civil society organizations

Individual contributors are not eligible under this EOI.

Submission and Onboarding Process

• Organizations must register on the AIKosh platform through the Entity Locker.
• Datasets must include complete metadata and licensing details.
• Contributions will be reviewed for completeness, legal compliance, and alignment with AIKosh objectives.

This is a rolling EOI with no fixed deadline. Submissions will be evaluated periodically.
