Today is India's 75th Republic Day celebration. Republic Day marks the enactment of India's constitution and the nation's transition into a republic on 26th January 1950. It has a magnificent display of its military might and women's important role in its armed services. The festivities took on a global flavour with French President Emmanuel Macron as the primary guest.

President Murmu expressed her views on AI, highlighting the potential prospects and the various concerns ahead. She stated, "The Amrit Kaal period will coincide with a time of remarkable technological advancements." Significant technological advancements have facilitated the rapid integration of AI and machine learning into our daily lives. "

President further said that multiple areas of concern can be anticipated shortly. However, he also emphasized that promising opportunities are on the horizon, particularly for the younger generation."

Republic Day parade

The Republic Day Parade tableau demonstrated the practical application of AI, depicting a teacher utilizing a virtual reality headgear to instruct students. Furthermore, the significance of AI in logistics and cattle management is emphasized. 

JL Gupta, the Director of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, provided ANI with valuable information, emphasizing that this year's tableau is centred around AI-based technology and its advantages for the general people. The talk also elucidates the favourable influence of AI in the healthcare industry. The display prominently showcases semiconductor chips, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambition for the electronic industry.

Role of Tableaux

Tableaux play a prominent role in the Republic Day parade, displaying the nation's abundant cultural diversity, historical importance, and progress. The selected subjects for these tableaux are meticulously crafted to accurately represent the fundamental nature of India's progression and its ambitions.

During Republic Day, several states, agencies, and ministries showcase their achievements with tableaux that integrate local historical and cultural elements with advanced technology and equipment.

Republic Day parade tableau

India's Republic Day parade tableau from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology showcased AI's use in healthcare, logistics, and education to empower society. The tractor section of the tableau featured a "female robot" in a contemplative pose, and it rolled down the Kartavya Path on Friday. The tractor's base featured a three-dimensional scale representation of a chip. The circuit design on the sides, which included LED lights, demonstrated the potential of artificial intelligence to propel India's prosperity.

Front section

The front of the float depicted the role of AI in the healthcare industry by showcasing the visual examination of organs and the use of robotic hands to do surgery with the assistance of doctors.

The central section illustrated the application of AI in logistics to identify and separate goods using colour coding. In addition, autonomous delivery drones utilize artificial intelligence to navigate and transport packages.

Back section

The back section of the tableau illustrates the function of AI in education. In contrast, the lower section portrayed its application in monitoring cattle health and assisting visually impaired individuals in navigation.

Furthermore, observed on the ground are students utilizing electronic devices while riding electric scooters along the Kartavya Path.
