India’s first Artificial Intelligence Summit- ‘Raise 2020’- is being jointly organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the NITI Aayog. Responsible AI for Social Empowerment 2020’ (RAISE 2020) will be be held virtually from October 5 to October 9. It will be a global meeting to exchange ideas between some of the best minds in the world on AI.

Some panels to look out for in the ‘Responsible AI’ track are Education and Awareness for Responsible AI (Oct 6), Role of Regulations for Responsible AI (Oct 6), Bridging the gap between theory and practice:Vision for GPAI (Oct 7), Research for Responsible AI (Oct 7), Role of data for Responsible AI (Oct 8), Ethics-by-design structures for Responsible AI (Oct 8).

The panels will feature some of the most prominent names from the industry, including:

  • Rishad Premji is the Chairman of Wipro Limited. He served as the Chairman of NASSCOM in 2018-19.  He has been recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum for his outstanding leadership, professional accomplishments, and commitment to society.
  • Brad Smith is the President of Microsoft Corporation, also serving as its Chief Legal Officer. He leads work on a wide range of issues involving the intersection between technology and society, including cybersecurity, privacy, ethics and artificial intelligence, human rights,immigration, philanthropy and environmental sustainability. 
  • J Satyanarayana is the Chief Advisor at Centre for 4th Industrial Revolution (India Centre) at World Economic Forum. A career civil servant, he is the Chairman of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). He made significant contribution to policy as well as the practice of deploying technologies innovatively in the public sector in India. 
  • Rahul Panicker is the Chief Innovation Officer at Wadhwani Institute for Artificial Intelligence, a nonprofitresearch institute developing AI solutions for social good. He is also the co-founder of Embrace Innovations, and Embrace, a social enterprise startup that aims to help premature and low-birth-weight babies
  • Shameek Kundu is the Chief Data Officer at Standard Chartered Bank. He is responsible for building the technology underpinning data and analytics (including Hadoop/ big data, traditional data warehouses and BI/ analytics) and the governance of data quality.
