The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has announced the TruthTell Hackathon as part of Season 1 of the Create in India Challenge (CIC) at the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025. The hackathon, launched in collaboration with the India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA), seeks to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to detect and prevent misinformation in live media coverage, ensuring greater transparency and trust in journalism.
With over 5,600 global registrations, including 36% participation from women, the event underscores India’s commitment to fostering inclusive AI innovation in the media sector. Participants, including developers, data scientists, and media professionals, will compete for mentorship, funding, and cash prizes worth ₹10 lakh. Winning solutions will receive incubation support from top industry experts and be showcased at WAVES 2025.
