We have witnessed the profound use and impact of Artificial Intelligence systems on various aspects of society. AI has the immense potential to disrupt and transform lives regarding its current role in automating repetitive tasks across industries. AI is deployed in several fields ranging from drug development in healthcare to common tasks such as writing and editing.

Among these, one significant industry that leverages the power and potential of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is Edtech. The Edtech industry is predicted to undergo a substantial growth of approximately $9 billion by 2029. The industry, therefore, demonstrates various practical applications which emphasise the capabilities of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

How has AI reshaped the education system?

AI has been reshaping the education system in India, and other parts of the world, leading to an education revolution termed Education 4.0. It makes students future-ready by enabling the power and understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in changing education more inclusive. As per Education 4.0, cutting-edge technologies must be included in the curriculum, the conventional learning process must be transformed, and technologies must be deployed to enhance the learning experience. This kind of transformation influences the students, educators, recruiters and career counsellors, changing how they live and learn within the education sphere.

Making the AI Appreciation Day fruitful

When the world was celebrating the auspicious AI appreciation day, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship had something good for the people who desire to upscale their AI knowledge. The Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, launched the “AI for India 2.0”, a free training programme on Artificial Intelligence on World Youth Skills Day. It is a joint initiative by GUVI (Grab Ur Vernacular Imprint), IIT Madras- IIM Ahmedabad incubated ed-tech company and Skill India, which targets the education of students in vernacular languages. This online program reportedly holds the accreditation of NCVET and IIT Madras, which aim to equip young individuals with cutting-edge skills.

Curbing the language barriers

Minister Pradhan cites this AI skill development program as an excellent beginning to curb the language barrier by designing it in nine Indian languages. He emphasises the significance of breaking those language barriers for emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence. Pradhan stressed the necessity of technology courses in vernacular languages, specifically for empowering youth from rural areas who struggle to learn technology courses due to the language barrier, thereby bridging the digital divide. Furthermore, he highlighted our country’s successful adoption of digital payments while addressing India’s tech-savvy nature.

Additionally, he commended GUVI’s effort in taking the initiative to empower and educate the population from the bottom of the pyramid on cutting-edge technologies. He expressed his contentment and support for this novel attempt, envisioning the futuristic widespread accessibility of AI education across India.
