AI is already transforming the way we work, the way we study and the way we teach in a blink of an eye. AI is influencing almost every profession and sectors since the launch of various AI models. From paraphrasing our given data to creating original content from various data available using advanced algorithms AI has been changing the face of our daily writing tasks. Among them, the capability of AI in note-taking is impressive. AI-based note-taking tools has the capability of automating tasks that typically require human intelligence.
Here Google has rolled out its new innovative project named Project Tailwind during the recently held I/O 2023 event, along with the showcasing of a number of other Artificial Intelligence-powered tools. Project Tailwind predominantly acts as an AI notebook which helps consumers in smarter note-taking tasks. According to the company, Project Tailwind aids users in taking user’s freeform notes and automatically organises and summarises them by leveraging AI technology.
Project Tailwind is an AI-based notebook that is powered by Google’s large language model, PaLM-2. The tool enables the users to select files from Google Drive and build a private AI model while ensuring that their data remains confined within their own accounts. Unlike the other AI models, Project Tailwind will be trained on the user’s own personalised data fed to the model by the users themselves. Training the model with user data differentiates it from other AI LLM models that are trained on publicly available data sets.
The users can interact with Project Tailwind similarly to a tutor-student interaction. Though Google introduced it as a tool for students, it holds much more potential. The tool benefits individuals of various professions that involve synthesising information from various sources. You can feed the model with a wide range of study notes and choose particular topics and suggested questions to include in your study guide.
During a demo presentation, Josh Woodward, a senior director of product management at Google, fed Project Tailwind many study notes. The tool readily identified the key points and suggested questions on them. A text box feature enables users to explore deeper into the information by creating a glossary of terms on each topic.
Additionally, you can interact with the AI with your doubts and queries, which will be solved exactly from the documents you have provided. This tool helps users attain valuable insights and accurate information tailored according to their needs, irrespective of their field of work.
According to Google, the tool can not only suggest questions and create a comprehensive reading quiz but also answer natural language questions about the notes and cite all sources within the book.
Google has officially announced that it will open early access for the public who have joined in waitlist in the US, and the project will be renamed. Like other Google AI tools, Project Tailwind is also an experimental project.
