I first encountered AI as an intern at the Department of Electronics (now the Department of Technology) in the Government of India in New Delhi 25 years ago, working on a project involving backpropagation using neural networks. My passion for AI has only grown with the emergence of GenAI in the technology scene. Today, I actively explore innovative ways to use AI in business applications to bring efficiency to complex problems and work with clients across several industries. To keep up with the latest technological advancements, I have continuously upskilling myself—from business analytics and cloud systems to blockchain, crypto, and AI. While being in the tech space makes this transition natural, my AI journey has evolved exponentially.
I was drawn to AI as it combines the technical challenges of implementation with the practical needs of businesses, especially the office of the CFO. AI’s potential to transform financial operations makes it both exciting and impactful. My area of expertise is MLOps and Gen AI. I’m thrilled to work on new AI-driven solutions with my Yantra - A Riveron Company team, knowing the latest technology solutions will benefit our clients in India and globally.
As the world’s technology hub, India needs digitally skilled professionals to compete in today’s digital age. Although we work closely with CFOs and CIOs to solve unique and pressing business challenges, I don’t limit my interests to a particular type of project. I enjoy exploring complex business challenges, finding solutions using diverse technologies, and brainstorming with my team. One of my biggest challenges has been finding roles that allow me to go beyond standard job descriptions and truly innovate. My role at Riveron has given me that opportunity, and I’m excited to keep expanding my skills.
I’ve been fortunate to have a family encouraging me to reach my potential amid competing priorities; their support has helped me through challenging times. I’m grateful to my parents for sparking my passion for technology and to my husband and kids for helping me keep that passion alive.
Women today are ambitious, dedicated, and driven, and they are breaking barriers like never before. Companies should look beyond gender biases to prioritize inclusive growth opportunities and provide hybrid work options, transparent policies, equal pay for equal work, etc. Accountability measures can ensure the achievement of gender diversity goals across teams and leadership.
It cannot happen overnight, but we must gradually work toward breaking stereotypes. Women must build self-esteem, stand up for what they deserve, and act as role models. A collective effort from all fronts—families, communities, and institutions—helps dismantle the societal constraints that prevent women from reaching their full potential. Education, awareness, financial freedom, and personal development are vital to empowering women.
Set an ambitious goal for yourself and concentrate on it. As a woman in AI or technology, it is imperative to constantly upskill in this ever-evolving technology landscape. When you become overwhelmed, do not give up. Hold onto your passion for technology, and you will continue to find reasons to immerse yourself more deeply in it.
