Problem / Objective:

The Indian Army deploys soldiers in difficult terrains and high altitudes of the border to keep a physical watch on any enemy activities. These surveillance tasks are physically and psychologically challenging for soldiers, especially during dark winter nights. 

Solution / Approach:

The Army Design Bureau was set up by the Indian Army to promote the production of home-grown weapons, especially using niche technologies. The Bureau, to solve challenging conditions faced by soldiers, developed a device that would warn soldiers of unusual activity across regions with a restricted line of sight. 

The device is an AI-powered personalized night vision unit, which is mounted on the helmet of a soldier, and warn them of any suspicious activities.

Along with the helmet, the companion wristband would vibrate when the unit picks up signs of movement in the soldier proximity.

Impact / Implementation:

The device has helped the soldiers with a restricted line of sight. The soldiers are less physically worn out in the terrains and high-altitude regions, as a result. The Indian Army plans to deploy more AI-based solutions for the border soldiers.
