In November 2018, it was announced by NRF (National Research Foundation) that the research foundation will invest up to $150 million over 5 years in AISG (AI Singapore). AISG will build on the current AI knowledge and capabilities that they have built up across Singapore-based research institutions with the past R&D investments. Beyond research institutions, the initiative will also tap into the local community through networking events, hackathons, and providing them with shared resources and facilities including software tools, open source frameworks, anonymized datasets and other AI high-performance computing resources. The aim will be to develop AI based solutions to tackle real-world challenges.
