About

The rapid scale of AI innovation has pushed governments to foster several multilateral and bilateral initiatives to preempt and address AI risks. Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) is one such multi-stakeholder initiative, bringing together leading experts from science, industry, civil society, international organizations, and governments that share values to bridge the gap between theory and practice on Responsible AI by supporting cutting-edge research and applied activities on AI-related priorities.

As part of the run-up to the GPAI Annual Summit in December 2023, India is planning to host a series of working group convenings to raise awareness around GPAI outputs and enhance knowledge sharing between GPAI working groups and member countries by providing experts a platform to present the work being done by them. These convenings aim to:

  • Raise global awareness around current and future GPAI work and outputs;
  • Increase collaboration and knowledge sharing between experts and the external ecosystem;
  • Present, Debate, and Discuss EWG’s outputs and future priorities;
  • Promote the adoption of GPAI work and enhance its relevance;

Theme for the Convening - Innovation and Commercialization

This convening will provide project advisory group co-leads within the Innovation and Commercialization working group with a platform to present their completed work and its impact, as well as discuss ongoing work, future roadmap, and identify areas where member countries and the external ecosystem can offer their support.

Since the Paris Summit in 2021, the Innovation and Commercialization working group is actively engaged in four research projects – Broad Adoption of AI by SMEs; Protecting AI innovation, Intellectual Property (IP); Broad Adoption of AI by SMEs in the Agriculture and Farming Sector; and Boosting Innovation while Regulating AI. The presentations within this Convening will guide the audience through the outputs generated as part of the concluded and ongoing projects followed by a brief interaction of GPAI working group members with member countries and the external AI ecosystem.
