Border Electronically Dominated QRT Interception Technique (BOLD-QIT)

SurveillanceNational Security

In March 2019, the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated an electronic surveillance system called BOLD-QIT under Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System (CIBMS) on India-Bangladesh border in Dhubri District of Assam. The system includes various technologies such as microwave communication, optical fiber cables, day-and-night surveillance cameras, and an intrusion detection system. These technologies provide feeds to BSF control rooms on the border and enable BSF Quick Reaction Teams to prevent any possibility of illegal cross border trespassing or crimes.

The project will enable BSF to equip Indo-Bangla borders with different kind of sensors in the unfenced riverine area of Brahmaputra and its tributaries. In September 2018, Mr. Rajnath Singh had also inaugurated two smart fencing pilot projects of five kilometers each on India-Pakistan international border in Jammu.

Intelligence Traffic Management System (ITMS)

Computer VisionDeep Learning

Intelligence Traffic Management System (ITMS) is an AI initiative deployed by the Delhi Police. As per the project the Delhi Police will use the 3D radar-based Red-Light Violation Detection Camera (RLVD) system at 24 junctions across Delhi to monitor the red-light violations and gantry-mounted radar-based system to detect over speeding.

The system includes high-resolution cameras (7,000-8,000) with sensor-based real-time traffic volume count technology. These cameras include multidirectional infrared and colourless laser sensors which could count the traffic volume based on image pattern analysis. Each signal includes an IP-based public address system which could be used to communicate with the drivers.

For the initial few months, these 7,000 cameras will collect data using big-data techniques on a cloud. This would help the AI software to learn using deep learning. The software would then use cameras’ live feeds, sensors and Google Maps to make a predictive algorithm.

Budget

₹20 crore (for Delhi) . ₹1,000 crore for ITMS across India
