The innovative Driving Testing System (IDTS) was established by the Institute of Driving Training and Research under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway. IDTS is a camera-based driving skill assessment system that enables driving instructor/ licensing/ selection officer to test the driving skills of the applicant. It automates the driving test for ‘8’ and ‘H’ test tracks and generates the report through video database which includes various performance reports such as standard direction followed, number of forward & reverse movement, standard deviation within limit, number of stoppages, identification of kerb hits, number of kerb hits, average speed, timely completion of test, and number of tests attempted.
Budget
₹17 crore for each centre and ₹5 crore for each smaller regional driving training centres.

AI-based attendance for field staff
The National Highways Authorities of India (NHAI) has deployed artificial intelligence (AI) based Face Recognition System to monitor attendance of the field staff at different project locations. This move has been undertaken by the NHAI as a step to increase transparency and accountability.
The AI will also have the feature of real-time location tracking of personnel at project sites including key personnel, engineers and consultants. Further, the NHAI's system which is cloud-enabled as well as powered by the data analytics platform - Data Lake which will enable the system to tag each personnel with unique identification and monitoring which will help check unauthorised absenteeism as well as improve the quality of construction and project management.
This system will enable employees to log on using their mobile phones via an app and will capture employee details, date, time and location of the employees when they log in for the day and will prevent Impersonation of employees/ consultants/ engineers.
