The National Skill Development Mission (NSDM) was launched in 2015, by the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on World Skills Day. The NSDM aims to consolidate efforts of skill training and development across sectors and states and help sectors expedite steps to achieve various skilling efforts at scale at a fast pace. NSDM’s mission is to create an end-to-end framework which promotes sustainable livelihoods for citizens while aligning them with the demands of potential employers.
The MSDE has set up institutional mechanisms at three tiers to help this mission succeed; a Governing Council at the apex level for policy guidance, a Steering Committee and a Mission Directorate. The Mission Directorate will be supported by three additional institutions that will help the Directorate to facilitate smooth functioning by working horizontally:

According to the Year-end report of MSDE, released on Press Information Bureau (PIB), various partnerships have been formed to update Skill India to create pedagogy that builds capacity for jobs of the future in areas such as artificial intelligence, block-chain technology, etc.
