In collaboration with Intel and Udacity, AWS has opened AI and ML Scholarship program aiming to help underserved and underrepresented high school and college students learn the foundational ML concepts to prepare them for careers in AI and ML. The students can take advantage of the Udacity Nanodegree scholarship, mentorship and career development opportunities through the AWS AI & ML scholarship program on AWS DeepRacer Student. Participants can earn out of 2500 scholarships that are awarded annually.
The students will have to complete learning modules and quizzes on AWS DeepRacer Student to qualify to apply for the scholarship. Students above the age of 16 enrolled in high school and higher secondary education across the globe are eligible to receive free service. The applicants can access 20 hours of AWS AI and ML content, 10 hours of model training and 5 GB of storage per month to participate in the DeepRacer Student league.
Two thousand students will receive scholarships per year for the Udacity AI Programming with Python Nanodegree program, which will value up to $4000. This four-month collaborative course teaches programming tools and techniques fundamental to ML with support from Udacity teachers in weekly group sessions.
The top five hundred students performing in the program can earn a second, more advanced Nanodegree. This six-month course combines Deep Learning and ML engineering concepts. In addition, the students will receive mentorship and career guidance throughout the program through “Ask Me Anything” monthly seminars with top industry experts. Topics range from career development and networking, promoting diversity and equity in the tech workforce, to technical experience in the field. Also, the participants of the second Nanodegree program will receive a full year of one-on-one mentorship from an AWS or Intel employee. They will provide both coursework and will prepare them for a career in technology.
