The Digital India Program is organizing the 2nd GPAI Working Group Convening on Innovation & Commercialization, on 25th July 2023, 5:30 PM.
As part of the run-up to the GPAI Summit 2023, India is hosting a series of working groups convening to raise awareness around GPAI outputs and enhance knowledge sharing between GPAI working groups and member countries. The Convening will provide GPAI experts with a platform to present their work. The second Working Group Convening is on Innovation & Commercialization.
The rapid scale of AI innovation has pushed governments to foster multilateral and bilateral initiatives to preempt and address AI risks. Launched in June 2020, GPAI is a multistakeholder initiative bringing together leading experts from science, industry, civil society, international organizations and government that share values to bridge the gap between theory and practice on AI by supporting cutting-edge research and applied activities on AI-related priorities.
They provide a mechanism for sharing multidisciplinary research and identifying key issues among AI practitioners to facilitate international collaboration, reduce duplication, act as a global reference point for specific AI issues, and ultimately promote trust in and adopting trustworthy AI.
GPAI assesses – on a comprehensive, objective, open, and transparent basis – the scientific, technical, and socio-economic information relevant to understanding AI impacts, encouraging its responsible development and options for adaptation and mitigation of potential challenges.
Since the Paris Summit in 2021, the Innovation and Commercialization working group has been actively engaged in four research projects – Broad Adoption of AI by SMEs; Protecting AI innovation, Intellectual Property (IP); Broad Adoption of AI by SMEs in the Agriculture and Farming Sector; and Boosting Innovation while Regulating AI. The presentations within this Convening will guide the audience through the outputs generated as part of the concluded and ongoing projects, followed by a brief interaction of GPAI working group members with member countries and the external AI ecosystem.
