Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended an invitation to the upcoming Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) meeting in 2023. The conference will primarily concentrate on the progress and breakthroughs in AI. 

The summit will take place at Bharat Mandapam from December 12 to 14. The Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) comprises approximately 28 member countries and the European Union. India is a founding member of GPAI, a forum that guides the proper development and utilization of artificial intelligence.

Event Schedule

The GPAI Summit has important meetings for governing bodies and side events that show off AI work and allow people to talk about it. Some side events include the Global AI Expo, workshops, industry panel talks, the Gamechanger Awards for start-ups, and a research symposium.

Let us explore the events happening on the 1st day of the GPAI SUMMIT 2023: 12-14 December 2023, New Delhi. 

Side Event 1- Applications of AI in Priority Sectors

The session will concentrate on the obstacles and opportunities in the adoption of AI by industry to improve competitiveness, the market potential of AI, and its adoption across industries. The session's goals are as follows: 

  • Gain a thorough grasp of AI's present penetration in critical industries such as education, security, finance, and healthcare.  
  • Highlight successful case studies of AI deployment and its global value growth in the industry. 

Discuss rules that delve into the rights associated with cogenerated data, ensuring they protect individual and group rights.

Side Event 2 - Research Symposium 

The session will provide a platform for AI researchers and developers to cooperate and share relevant findings on Responsible AI in front of a worldwide audience at the Summit, with the theme "Advancing Responsible AI in Public Sector Applications." The talk will also illustrate the difficulties in implementing Responsible AI ideas. The session would result in an edited volume that would serve as a critical resource for policymakers, researchers, and AI developers worldwide to access and appraise actionable best practices and new tactics to promote Responsible AI.

Side Event 3 - AI & Global Health – Role of AI in Advancing Healthcare

Through a panel discussion, the session aims to investigate the expanding usage of AI-enabled solutions in healthcare. The discussion will include issues such as the role of AI in Universal Health Coverage, workflow in healthcare operations, diagnostics, and drug discovery, AI assistance for healthcare professionals, ethical elements of deploying AI in healthcare, country challenges, and public-private synergies.

Side Event 4 - Building Scalable Large Language Models (LLMs)

This session aims to study and share information about Large Language Models (LLMs) and Natural Language Processing (NLP). The goal is to promote networking and professional advancement in the LLM and NLP industries by researching and gaining market insights. It will address various topics, including multilingual support and bias reduction, as well as talks on ethical use and the development of customized models for different countries. 

Side Event 5 - AI Safety Summit: Follow Up 

The session will include a comprehensive summary of the results achieved during the UK Safety Summit held at Bletchley Park. 

Side Event 6 - Collaborative AI for Global Partnership (CAIGP) - Global Cooperation for Equitable AI 

The event intends to spark discussion about the importance of collaborating across countries and organizations to make the AI innovation ecosystem more inclusive. The following are the event's goals: 

  • Identifying how to cooperatively align and synchronize efforts toward AI's future development through a multistakeholder approach to AI research and innovation. 
  • Investigating the role of prominent industry participants, such as AI compute providers, in promoting inclusion throughout the AI ecosystem. 

They will discuss how nations may pool resources for AI innovation using existing global organizations such as the GPAI. 

The Hon'ble Prime Minister of India will hold the inaugural session at the end of the first day.
