OpenAI’s AI chatbot ChatGPT has been in the limelight since its inception, and this time for its wrong answer. ChatGPT being one of the most talked about things on the internet, this plight of the journalist grabbed the whole world’s attention. The AI tool became sensational after identifying its capability to render accurate answers and explanations about everything in the world. But, at the same time, it has also been running into errors recently.
One of the recent experiences was shared by Dave Lee, a San Francisco correspondent of the Financial Times. When a user asked the bot if it could be used with the famous messaging app Signal, the bot mistakenly gave Lee’s number to the user. The chatbot replied, “Yes, you can also use Signal to chat with me. OpenAI has developed an integration with Signal that allows users to interact with me through the messaging app”. While demonstrating the steps to use ChatGPT with Signal, the AI chatbot gave Lee’s number.
Lee, who got startled by the incident, tweeted, “Someone asked ChatGPT if it had a Signal… and it gave him *MY NUMBER*”, adding the screenshot of the bot’s response where it gave his number while listing the steps to use ChatGPT with Signal. In the thread, Lee mentions the company apologised right after the incident on behalf of ChatGPT. He wrote, “Thankfully, Scott was very polite and apologised on ChatGPT’s behalf for the wrong number. I haven’t been able to recreate this, so lord knows what was going on.”
