Tongyi Qianwen, an AI broad language model comparable to GPT, was recently unveiled by Alibaba Group Holding and will soon be included in all of the company's business applications.

A generative pre-trained transformer (GPT) is a large language model (LLM) neural network that can generate code, answer questions, and summarise text, among other natural language processing tasks. With only a tiny quantity of input text, GPT-3 may generate a vast amount of material, such as articles, poems, stories, news reports, and dialogue. Not limited to human language, GPT-3 can generate any textual form. It can synthesize not only summaries of text but also code.

DingTalk, Alibaba's workplace messaging app, will first include Tongyi Qianwen, which can summarise meeting notes, compose emails, and create business proposals. In addition, Tmall Genie, Alibaba's virtual assistant, will be updated to include the feature.

GPT rivals

Since the Microsoft-backed OpenAI robot, ChatGPT went viral at the end of last year. As a result, interest in generative AI has increased globally. This type of AI can learn how to act based on past data to create new content. Since then, rivals like Google (part of Alphabet Inc) and Baidu (also part of Alphabet Inc) have used their AI models to create and market chatbots.

Microsoft is adding image generation capabilities to its Bing AI chatbot. To generate photos in Bing Preview, users need to type "create an image" (or a similar phrase) after the prompt.

Similarly, in March, Google's chatbot, Bard, was made available to a select group of users in the United States and the United Kingdom. Initially created as a tool for drafting creative pieces like letters and poems, it can generate ideas, produce blog articles, and provide factual or opinion-based responses to questions.

Objective

To allow its customers to create unique large language models, Alibaba Cloud intends to make Tongyi Qianwen available. In addition, since the introduction of Microsoft-backed OpenAI's chatbot phenomenon ChatGPT at the end of last year, there has been a worldwide uptick in interest in generative AI, which can learn how to perform actions based on prior data to generate new material.

Since then, competitors like Google (of Alphabet Inc) and Baidu (also of Alphabet Inc) have publicized and produced chatbots based on their own AI models. Tongyi is Alibaba's unique pre-trained model framework that brings together several types of AI models and serves as the foundation for Tongyi Qianwen.

Existing features

• Even though you cannot obtain GPT as standalone software, you can still access it via the OpenAI API or online tools that employ the model. It is important to remember that although GPT is a potent language model, it has limitations and may not be appropriate for all use cases.
• It can generate code fragments in popular programming languages like JavaScript, Python, C#, PHP, and Java.
• Expressions and equations are fundamental components of mathematics, and Chat GPT can process them. It can solve more complicated equations, including quadratic equations and linear equation systems.

According to Zhang, Alibaba and other companies working on AI models are "at the beginning" of a new phenomenon. "All of us share the desire to seize this opportunity," he said.

Furthermore, Alibaba shares rose 1.5% in Hong Kong trading, whereas the market as a whole was unchanged. SenseTime's stock initially rose but later declined 2.7%.
