Google has made its experimental artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot available for public testing. Earlier this year, the company launched the AI Test Kitchen. This Android app allows users to communicate with LaMDA 2, one of its most advanced AI chatbots (Language Model for Dialogue Applications).

Users can now experiment with and provide feedback on Google's emerging technologies. Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced the same in a Twitter post, saying that the company is gradually rolling out access to small groups of users in the US.

Researchers envision a time when you can talk to your loved ones while looking for information. Even though there is still much to be done before this kind of human-computer interaction is feasible, recent research advances in generative language models motivated by human conversation are accelerating our progress.

LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications) is one of Google's most promising models, and as researchers continue with development, they feel a great responsibility to get this right.

At Google I/O earlier this year, the researchers unveiled an AI Test Kitchen app. It gives people a fresh way to discover, use, and comment on cutting-edge AI innovations like LaMDA. You can now sign up for the AI Test Kitchen as it gradually rolls out to select users in the US. It will be available on Android today and iOS in the upcoming weeks.

The AI Test Kitchen will offer a changing menu of experimental demos, much like a real test kitchen. Although they aren't final products, these were to give you a taste of what artificial intelligence is beginning to make possible.

The capabilities of their most recent LaMDA version, which has undergone significant safety improvements, are explored in their first set of demos. In the first demo, "Imagine It," you can name a location and choose from various pathways to use your imagination. You can share a goal or topic with the "List It" demo, and LaMDA will organize it into a list of practical subtasks. Additionally, the "Talk About It (Dogs Edition)" demo allows you to engage in a lighthearted, unstructured conversation about only dogs. This demo will enable you to test LaMDA's ability to stay on a topic even when you try to stray from it.

Conclusion

According to the researchers' AI Principles, responsible advancement doesn't occur in a vacuum. External feedback is the most practical step for the researchers to advance LaMDA. Your ratings of each LaMDA reply as polite, offensive, off-topic, or untrue will develop and improve their upcoming products. Furthermore, the researchers want AI Test Kitchen to be secure, entertaining, and educational.
