The two times Grammy award winner, DJ David Guetta played a deepfake version of the Rap God Eminem in one of his recent gigs, which made people go crazy. The French producer also used Generative AI to write Eminem-styled lyrics and used synthetic voice clones to play the song.

Though a Guetta-Eminem collab has never happened, this attempt to make Eminem’s deepfake has taken the experience to the next level. Guetta tweeted, “Let me introduce you Emin-AI-em”, with a clip of him playing the song in the concert. The song’s intro starts with the impression of a voice remarkably similar to Eminem’s, which says, “This is the future rave sound. I’m getting awesome and underground”.

Though Guetta successfully melded two generative AI tools for the performance, he didn’t mention which tool he used. But he said he asked an AI to “write a verse in Eminem style about future rave”. “This is something I made as a joke, and it worked so good, I could not believe it. I discovered those websites about AI; basically, you can write lyrics in the style of any artist you like. And I went to another AI website where I could recreate the voice. I put the text in that, and I played the record, and people went nuts”, Guetta said in the video shared on Twitter.

While discussing the ethics behind using another artist’s voice, Guetta added, he will not be releasing the track commercially but “opening a conversation about how AI is going to change the music industry.” He was thrilled to see the reaction of the audience. Guetta mentioned, “Some of them are like, ‘Oh, this is genius’. Some of them are getting super mad at me”. “The future of music is in AI,” Guetta told BBC while attending the 2023 Brit Awards.
