The Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur has taken a significant turn in its development in technical studies by announcing an AI certification programme with a focus on educating the youth in our country about cutting-edge technologies in the domain at a mass level.
The programme- Hands-on AI for Real-world Applications (HAAI) was launched by AI for Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (AI4ICPS), which is referred to as the AI hub of the institute. Moreover, a Tata Consultancy Services unit, TCS iON, is expected to provide LMS platform services and also act as an outreach partner. The programme, a release states, will cater to the demands of the emerging AI industry and is also structured to consider recommendations under the National Education Policy 2020.
The three-month weekend programme provides a combination of theoretical foundations as well as practical learning. The course offers 47 contact hours and a total of 100 hours of experiential learning, which involves modular quizzes, discussion rooms, tips and tricks, real-world datasets, and live doubt-clearing sessions and promises a certificate of merit for the top 1% performers. This can also be counted as an excellent opportunity to interact with the industry players.
VK Tewari, the Director of IIT Kharagpur, mentioned, “Following the success of the course, we can take this forward to launch a diploma course for 10-12 months or a degree course which will be beneficial for the students and the working professional.”
The AI programme commences on September 2 and ends on December 2, 2023. It is open to freshers, individuals pursuing under- and post-graduate degrees, working professionals aiming at a career transition as AI/ ML engineers, individuals with basic programming knowledge and those with a keen interest in building a career in Information Technology.
