The Indian Institute of Technology Madras’s (IIT-M) Digital Skills Academy has collaborated with the Forensic Intelligence Surveillance and Security Technologies to launch “Career Back 2 Women”, an initiative to skill women in tech, who aspire to return to their career after a break. The initiative offers 150 hours training and certification courses in artificial intelligence, machine learning, cyber security data and big data. The choice of the level of difficulties depends on the women who undertake them. Women who conclude selected advance modules would also receive assistance in job placement.

Launching the initiative, Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director, IIT-M, said at the press conference, “In the IT field, the technology changes are so rapid that they are unable to get back to their careers as their skills are probably outdated. Despite this, their industry experience and knowledge about IT are immense and can be useful to many IT companies if they can fit into current requirements immediately. IIT-M is happy to pioneer this programme from Digital Skills Academy at IIT Madras, to help them get back to work and retrieve their careers.”

The Digital Skills Academy has further planned on offering varied courses in association with NASSCOM to various learners - students and working professionals – in partnership with training companies incubated at the IIT Madras Research Part and other industry partners. K. Mangala Sunder, Head, Digital Skills Academy, said to The Hindu, “IIT-M works with NASSCOM IT-ITeS Sector Skill Council to ensure that right industry partners are involved in training. Faculty from premier institutions provide fundamental knowledge to all learners.”
