According to a PIB press release, the Indian entrepreneur Shri Vishal Sikka met Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Shri Modi remarked this meeting as an insightful interaction and said that India is committed to taking the lead in AI, with a focus on innovation and creating opportunities for the youth. Both had a detailed and wide-ranging discussion on AI and its impact on India and several imperatives for the time ahead.

Responding to the X post of Vishal Sikka, the Prime Minister posted on X, “It was an insightful interaction indeed. India is committed to taking the lead in AI, with a focus on innovation and creating opportunities for the youth.”

Sikka, leading a human-centred AI platform, defined the meeting as inspiring. “I left the meeting both inspired and humbled by his extraordinary grasp of technology’s impact on all of us and how its use with democratic values can uplift everyone,” Sikka posted on X.

The wide-ranging discussion focused on AI’s potential influence on India, as well as the critical need to harness this disruptive technology in the coming years.

India’s ambition for AI leadership is mirrored in the IndiaAI Mission, formed last year to accelerate progress in the area. The Union Cabinet, led by PM Modi, approved around ₹10,300 crore for the program, indicating a huge commitment to developing the country’s AI ecosystem.

The IndiaAI mission’s ‘Future Skills’ project intends to improve the country’s workforce preparation by lowering barriers to AI program enrollment and boosting the talent pipeline.

The programme aims to empower youth with the skills needed to lead in an AI-driven world.

The government envisions AI as a revolutionary force across the industry. AI can improve agricultural productivity by using predictive analytics. In healthcare, it provides diagnostic and treatment planning options. Similarly, education, logistics, and finance will profit from AI’s ability to streamline processes and personalize offerings.
