The attorney general for India, R Venkataramani, has reportedly opined on the significance of hybrid hearings, and it should not just continue but also spread across the country, beyond the Supreme Court and High Courts. He emphasised the government’s need for more innovation and investment regarding hybrid hearings. He believes such a move can ensure more social peace and solace in the country.

The attorney general termed Artificial Intelligence as another form of intelligence by human beings, and the legal fraternity is all set to use these advanced technologies provided the misconceptions around them are disseminated. Since humans created the technologies, he believes they can handle them effortlessly. He also welcomed the entry of foreign law firms in India.

He further said when India benefits from the entry of foreign law firms, they will also benefit from the experience and expertise of Indian law firms as well. He described the competition between Indian and foreign law firms as a “little battle” to begin with, which he feels will eventually settle on equal terms on both sides.

While discussing gender progress across various sectors in our country, including the law fraternity, Venkataramani pointed out that the landscape should undergo a change as a whole in order to ensure equality of participation. He also stated that any such change must be triggered by education, employment, political process and global motion, and he added such developments would halt the discussions on the reservation for women in the near future.
