The Indian Institute of Technology in Jodhpur marked its foundation day commemoration. Alkesh Kumar Sharma, Secretary of MeitY, Government of India, who was featured as the chief guest in the event, announced an allocation of rupees 5 crores for the establishment of India’s maiden MeitY Chair on Artificial Intelligence at the reputed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur.

This is marked as a milestone in India’s AI research advancement and innovation. The institute gained approval for a substantial number of rupees 155 crores to start a cutting-edge programme targeting perception and cognitive engineering.

Moreover, Alkesh launched the student innovation exhibition and appreciated the glorious vision of the institute towards emerging technologies and technology-based inclusive development. He also praised the efforts of IIT Jodhpur, such as implementing several government schemes by scaling up operations and leveraging the capacity to establish a technological revolution that leads to an “Atmanirbhar Bharat”.

Dr R Chidambaram, the Chairman of BoG, IIT Jodhpur, mentioned and appreciated the research culture and activities at IIT Jodhpur that target to usher in the culture of innovative thinking and problem-solving among the youth of the country.

Additionally, they held a session on “Scientific Excellence at IIT Jodhpur”. The faculty at IIT Jodhpur made fifteen highly cited and best research presentations. Later Fifteen awards were given to students, staff and faculty for the best phone photography competition in which more than 140 entries were received showcasing the beauty of the campus.

Moreover, the institute honoured its eleven faculty members and three staff members during the occasion to recognise their exceptional contributions during all their levels of career paths in IIT Jodhpur.
