The CBSE and ICSE schools in Mangaluru have added Ai and robotics as new subjects in the curriculum. The majority of schools have introduced these subjects this academic year.

The latest one to add these courses to their school curriculum is Ambika Vidyalaya, Puttur. The school has developed its syllabus with a private engineering college in Mangaluru.

Another school, Lourdes Central School, has a similar curriculum and computer science, robotics, and AI.

Mount Carmel Central School, Maryhill, has also introduced AI for classes I to IX this academic year. The other schools stated that they are planning to introduce it soon.

Times of India reported that according to Subrahmanya Nattoja, founder of Ambika Vidyalaya (CBSE), Puttur, they launched AI and robotics from classes V to X. Each subject will have three weekly classes. These subjects are taught by two teachers who are engineering graduates. Besides, the syllabus is curated with the aid of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management to give the best input to children.

According to the founder, the subjects were introduced to give the younger generation a sneak peek at AI and robotics. Efforts are also made by introducing these subjects to convict children to stay in India and help our country grow in these fields rather than move out once they graduate.

The school has also installed interactive smart keyboards to enhance learning. Mount Carmel Central School introduced AI this academic year, whereas robotics was part of Atal Tinkering Lab, set up five years ago. Sr Melissa, principal of the school, stated that AI was introduced for classes I to IX this academic year.

There will be two classes each week conducted by teachers who are specially trained in the subject. The students will have to take examinations in these subjects. They plan to introduce the same subject to class X next academic year.
