Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS), an organisation backed by the Ministry of Railways, is organising a seminar on the topic “Reimagining Indian Railway: Harnessing the Power of Data Analytics for Integrated Transportation” on behalf of the Ministry of Railways on 3rd March 2023 at the National Rail Museum, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The seminar will be based on deploying data analytics to help Indian Railway optimise various operations.

Being the backbone of the Indian economy, Indian Railway plays a pivotal role in providing sustainable transportation services all over the country at an affordable cost. Hence there is a need to reduce the congestion and minimise delays for effective functioning and customer experience.

Data analytics can enhance the maintenance and efficiency of train schedules, reduce operational costs and thereby helps in providing an integrated transport system. Analysing data can help identify the demand for trains, allowing the authorities to provide adequate resources. It also helps to recognise the busy routes and plan for intermodal transportation to ensure coherent services.

The seminar will address the significance of innovation and technology in providing a smooth and reliable transportation system. This can transform the railway network and address various challenges faced by the Indian Railways. Honourable Minister of Railway Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw will be the Chief Guest.

Dr. R Gopalakrishnan, (General Manager Data Analytics, CRIS) will be addressing the data analytics journey of Indian Railways and distinguished speakers like Mr. Ganesh Ramamoorthy (Managing Vice President, Gartner, Dr. Kandukuri Raju, TCS (Transportation Domain Consultant with Travel, Transportation and Hospitality (TTH) ISU of TCS), Mr. Mukund Shastri, (Chief Data Science Officer & Group VP Comviva Technologies-A Tech Mahindra Company), and Dr. Narayan Rangaraj (Professor, Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, IIT Bombay).
