NASSCOM Centre of Excellence (CoE) is organising a Healthcare Innovation Challenge (HIC), focused on helping hospitals create a competitive edge and achieve operational excellence by enabling collaborative and frugal innovation.

The past year has witnessed India’s healthcare sector undergo immense stress, triggered mainly by the COVID19 pandemic. Increased costs, reduced utilisation and regulatory restrictions have only exacerbated the challenge. HIC is an endeavour to support hospitals become more efficient on the back of innovation and technological intervention.

HIC was officially inaugurated on 18th December 2020 by Dr. Saket Kumar, IAS, Special Secretary Industry & Commerce, Government of Haryana; Pramod Bhasin, Founder of Genpact; Chairman of Clix Capital and past Chairman and member of NASSCOM Executive Council; and Shri Dhammapal Chawhan, MD of HARTRON.

The inaugural event was attended by key stakeholders from the seven partner hospitals - Dr Pankaj Nathvani of Zydus Hospital, Ahmedabad; Dr Sameer Mehta, CEO and Mr Ganapathy Shankar, CTO, Dr Mehta’s Multispecialty Hospital, Chennai, J. P. Dwivedi, CIO, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre, Delhi, Dr Thulasiraj Ravilla: Director-Operations; Saravanan Sankaran, CIO and Mr Ganesh Babu: Senior Manager – IT, Aravind Eye Care System, Madurai, Bhoopendra Solanki: Head – IT, Sakra World Hopsital, Bengaluru, Mr Naveen Kumar: General Manager – IT, KIMS Hospital, Hyderabad, Dr Jayashankar Das, Director – Research, Institute of Medical Sciences & SUM Hospital, Bhubaneswar and Ishaq Quadri, Secretary, HIMSS India Chapter.

In this edition of HIC, seven Hospitals have nominated use Cases per their digital solutions needs – namely OPD Automation, IP Automation, Prescription Automation, Digitising Pathology Slides, Integration of Diagnostic equipment with EMR and AI–based Respiratory Syndrome Diagnosis.

NASSCOM CoE will drive the program that enables curation, evaluation & deployment of technology-led solutions to the provided use cases.
