Flutura's co-founder, Derick Jose, among others has taken up the mantle of developing Bangalore as the hub for Industrial AI startups. They've roped in a bay area angel investor, Raju Reddy, among other global VCs to back this project. Raju Reddy has always been a big supporter of entrepreneurs and their zeal to achieve the impossible. He firmly believes that combining the best of Israel and China, India is at a unique place in terms of technology. This USP can help India emerge as one of the best startup ecosystems next to the US.
Upon scaling of startups on X and Y axes, Mr Reddy commented that - "China is far right along the X-axis. China has a huge market of companies assessed at over $100 billion, but very few that have got much traction outside China in the tech entrepreneur world. And Israel would be along the Y-axis, but there's not much of a domestic market with only a nine million population. The US is somewhere on the far-right corner".
Looking at the available data, we can derive that India still needs to catch up with the rest of the technological superpowers, such as China, concerning tech entrepreneurial presence in the global markets. In the past years, India has grown tremendously, covering various fragments of India-to-Global product companies in the field of deep-tech. The only challenge they face is with 'sales' because India is not looked upon as Robotics or sensor AI industrial marketplace among huge giants such as the US, Germany, and Japan. Nevertheless, the consortium, created by a few deep tech founders, has had preliminary meetings with corporations like ABB and Honeywell. This could help the Indian "techpreneurs" to showcase their Industrial AI innovation at events in Europe and the US
According to Tracxn, only three Indian Industrial AI startups have raised more than $10 million so far. This data is highly skewed compared to the trend in Silicon Valley. With the apt instrumentation capabilities, the consortium believes that Bangalore is poised to compete with Israel and the Valley to develop solutions in India that cater to a global user-base.
