NVIDIA’s GPU Technology Conference, more commonly known as GTC has commenced on 21st March 2022. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, delivered the keynote address on 22nd March, Tuesday. GTC is a four-day event that includes tutorials, panel discussions and roundtable discussions with technical experts.  

While delivering the keynote address Jensen Huang spoke about the transforming power of AI. “GPU revolutionized AI, now AI on GPU’s are revolutionizing industries and Science”, he stated. He introduced NIVIDIA’s attempt to tackle the challenges arising due to climate change through the world’s first AI digital twin supercomputer. “Researchers at NVIDIA, Caltech, Berkley Lab, Purdue, Michigan and Rice Universities has developed a weather forecasting AI model, FourCastNet”, Said Huang. FourCastNet is a physics informed Deep Learning Model that can predict weather events such as hurricanes and rain. Jensen Huang added that it is the first time that a Deep Learning model has achieved better skill on precipitation forecasting than the state-of-the-art numerical models. He also announced and demonstrated new products by NVIDIA for various industries. “We are all hands-on deck to advance the platforms”, said Huang speaking about communications systems, personalization engines, recommender systems, AI frameworks for Training Large Language Models etc., researched and developed by NVIDIA AI.  

DGX H100, NVLINK switch system, NVIDIA EOS, Grace CPU Superchip were also introduced during the keynote address. NVILINK opens a world of semi-custom chips and systems. NVIDIA RAPIDS- Accelerated Apache Spark is the plug-in to accelerate large-scale Data Analytics. Spark is the leading data processing engine used by 80% of Fortune 500 companies. NVIDIA cuOpt is an AI-accelerated solver for Route Optimization used for delivery services. With cuOpt businesses can plan thousands of deliveries to various locations in seconds. 

In a scenario where 6G is taking shape on foundational technologies, NVIDIA’s attempts to make contributions in the areas relating to AI-driven networks were also explained through the Keynote speech. Immediate use cases and applications of Omniverse, which has been transforming the AI sphere were also introduced by Jenson Huang. He explained how NVIDIA’s Spectrum 4 will act as a backbone to their Omniverse computers that connect the virtual world.  

“The next wave of AI is Robotics, where AI will also plan and act”, Said Huang talking about NVIDIA’s robotic platforms. NVIDIA’s research is a leapfrog in the medical field as well. NVIDIA Clara holoscan is used to visualize large volumes of living cells in real-time.  

GTC will showcase the world’s brightest minds talking about their ground-breaking discoveries through various sessions. Technologists from Deloitte, Epic Games, Mercedes-Benz, Microsoft, Pfizer, Sony, Visa, Walt Disney, Zoom and more will present sessions. Among the topics covered includes 3D Design, accelerated computing, AI, autonomous machines, Computer Vision, the Data Center, High-Performance Computing, Manufacturing, Signal Processing, Video Streaming, AR/VR, Digital Simulation, and IoT.
