Most schools and colleges in the country are equally open to the change Artificial Intelligence brings. We have seen many examples where many educational institutions have adopted AI learning techniques to ease the learning methods and teach the students complex topics effortlessly. Moreover, flexible learning methods proposed by AI help teachers enhance individual attention among students. Nowadays, the usual daily activities at workplaces are also undergoing considerable changes.

Osmania University in Hyderabad has stepped forward to leverage the technology by their decision to make the process of marking attendance with the help of AI and ML. And now, there is no need to tirelessly wait to sign the attendance register or even the biometric attendance. The employees just need to be walking into the building, and their attendance will be automatically marked. The attendance will be marked using the CCTV cameras integrated with AI and ML technologies which mark the employees’ attendance along with their log-in and log-out time. It also marks the time when they walk in or out of the building entrance.

These cameras work with the help of the inbuilt facial recognition system. It uses cognitive AI functions that identify facial biometrics and sync it with the existing database to record the employees’ attendance. This innovation has been introduced on a pilot basis in the university’s main administrative building for the employees working there. The university plans to deploy the camera in other offices, classrooms and hostels on the campus soon.

In the present system, an employee can mark attendance in the morning, leave the office, and come back to record log-out time. This will not be the case with CCTV camera-based attendance, as they continuously capture movement besides holding employees’ log details. Therefore, we have incorporated AI and ML into two cameras”, an official stated.

The official also mentioned that the CCTV cameras capture the log-in details of visitors who visit the administrative building too. “Log details of all visitors are recorded in the database”, the official added.
