While addressing the significant G20 education ministers’ meeting held in Pune, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the vital role of Artificial Intelligence in education. He mentioned the dense possibilities of AI in learning, skilling and education, along with acknowledging the challenges that came with the increasing technological advancements and stressed the significance of understanding the right balance in utilising AI for educational benefits.

During the meeting, the ministers from G20 nations assembled to formally accept the outcome documents by marking the culmination of extensive deliberations conducted within the past several months in the education working group track. These outcome documents act as a roadmap for the coordinated global actions which aim to ensure inclusive and top-notch education for learners. 

The education working groups convened in Chennai, Amritsar, Bhubaneshwar, and Pune, concentrated on inclusive solutions and collective actions to address the global challenges. Their priorities encompassed foundational literacy and numeracy, inclusive and qualitative tech-enabled learning, capacity building for future work requirements as well as fostering research and innovation through collaboration and partnerships.

While addressing the meeting, PM Modi urged the G20 nations to play a pivotal role in leveraging technology to enhance education globally. He stressed the role of digital technology acting as an "equaliser" and a means to promote inclusivity, calling it a force multiplier in expanding access to education and adapting to future needs.

Besides addressing the significance of AI, Modi also mentioned the integration of technology with learning to boost the e-learning experience. He praised the Study Webs of Active-learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM), an esteemed e-learning platform offering remote access to excellent courses from renowned institutions. SWAYAM has accomplished remarkable enrolment numbers, with 9000 courses available from the 9th grade to the postgraduate level.

Further, PM Modi proposed that G20 nations undertake international-level skill mapping in order to identify the gaps in workforce abilities and address them. He highlighted the importance of continuous skilling, re-skilling and upskilling of the youth to mould them for the future and align their competencies with the developing work profiles and practices.
