Access to AI can empower and enable the lives of millions – but do these millions have equal and fair access to AI and related technologies? The answer is no. We’re looking at people with disabilities, the LGBTQI community, ethnic and racial groups and the like – who deserve an equal opportunity as the world hurtles towards a new era in technology.
Bias identification in AI is becoming a core area of study and research today, for the very purity of datasets will define the legitimacy of the AI it trains. AI requires a very earnest and honest analysis of the times we live in and the behaviours we see around us.
Especially in hiring today, more companies are utilizing AI tools and this requires a humane touch, not a cold machine-based approach. The ramifications of excluding candidates or not considering the wide cross section of individuals due to inherent biases (which invariably appear in the AI too) can be far reaching and damaging for today’s companies.
At RAISE 2020, the issue of inclusivity in AI will be tackled by an array of experts, who will make the cause for promoting more responsible use of AI to benefit every possible section of the society.
