Reliance and Facebook’s partnership has already started bearing technological fruits. Today, Reliance Industries launched the country’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled chatbot on WhatsApp, partner Facebook’s platform, to provide answers to shareholders regarding RIL’s Rs 53,125-crore rights issue.

The AI chatbot currently replies only in English; however, the platform has FAQ videos in regional languages such as Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada and Bangla. Interested members can access the chatbot via a WhatsApp message on +91-7977111111. A ‘Hi” WhatsApp message to the number triggers the 75+ pre-recorded messages. The chatbot responds via these messages, depending on what the user seeks - from links to various queries such as sample forms, shareholder entitlement to video tutorials as well as important dates related to the rights issues, payment methodologies etc.

The AI chatbot will keep evolving. The quality of answers will continue to improve as the chatbot refines its responses as per the questions.

The chatbot was created by Jio Haptik. Jio Haptik was previously Haptik Infotech until the takeover by Reliance Jio Infocomm, last April for Rs 230 crores.
