Simon Mak, an international academic strategist, has been appointed as the vice chancellor of Universal AI University (UAIU), a private Artificial Intelligence university in Mumbai. Being the first person from outside India to head an Indian institution, Mak’s appointment as founding vice-chancellor is a significant milestone.
Mak, who has experience in academia and Silicon Valley businesses, will work closely with Prof. Tarundeep Singh Anand, the university’s chancellor. His main objective will be to increase UAIU’s notoriety worldwide by developing a cutting-edge AI-powered curriculum while upholding ethical standards in education.
Mak has an MBA and Ph.D. from the SMU Cox School of Business in addition to a B.Tech from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He oversaw blockchain technology research and created an MBA course on the subject while serving as the Executive Director of the Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship at SMU Cox.
