In between the current AI boom in India, TeamLease Digital has reported that India has around 45,000 job openings in Artificial Intelligence. Data scientists and machine learning engineers top the positions in the list. According to the report, data engineers, business scientists and business intelligence analysts have the potential to earn up to 14 lakhs per annum, while the DevOps engineers, database admins and data architects can earn up to 12 lakhs per annum, and freshers who are machine learning engineers can earn up to 10 lakhs. Additionally, people with more than eight years of experience can get higher salaries ranging from 25 lakhs to 45 lakhs per annum, making this trend promising.
As per the research, the major industries in India, including education, healthcare, BFSI, retail, and manufacturing, offer a wide range of job opportunities in their respective AI landscapes. The report projected that an increased focus on scalable ML applications is increasing demand for AI professionals proficient in scripting languages and building conventional models.
“The AI revolution is transforming the job market, creating an urgent need for skilled professionals who can design, develop, and implement cutting-edge AI technologies. Fortunately, the Indian Government is taking proactive steps to address this challenge by entering into a bilateral strategic partnership through iCET and setting up Centers of Excellence and training initiatives,” said Sunil Chemmankotil, chief executive officer of TeamLease Digital.
The research “Initiative for Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET)- Forces Shaping Future of Technology”, by concentrating on Artificial Intelligence, illuminated the recent iCET partnership between India and U.S. through this exploration of job opportunities in the field of AI. It was established to enhance the strategic technology between India and U.S. and cooperation in multiple tech areas like AI, quantum technologies and so on.
Siva Prasad Nanduri, the chief business officer at TeamLease Digital, said, “In today’s rapidly evolving job market, upskilling with AI skills is becoming increasingly important for career growth and employability. With automation and AI transforming industries across the board, having a basic understanding of AI and its applications can give individuals a competitive edge in the job market”.
According to the report by TeamLease Digital, around 37 per cent of organisations deliver employee-relevant tools to build an AI-ready workforce. About 30 per cent of organisations said AI learning initiatives are required to unlock the ‘hidden talents’ of their workforce. Around 56 per cent of organisations have already taken initiatives to bridge the AI demand-supply talent gap. Almost 55 per cent of employees agree that AI delivers new job opportunities, and 54 per cent of them agreed that organisations must take initiatives for upskilling and reskilling to develop a future-ready workforce. More than 40 per cent of employees believe that building in-house capabilities and integrating AI into daily operations will improve AI capabilities.
The report also stated that the Union Budget of the Indian Government’s steps to train young people in AI-related skills and implement Centres of Excellence for AI is one of the significant state initiatives so far. The research findings show the increase in emphasis on AI skills and the growing demand for AI professionals in the Indian job market. The aspirants only need to upskill in AI and invest in their career growth to remain competitive in the future.
