The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has decided to introduce AI and coding to madrassa students. This initiative has been planned and taken forward by the Yogi government to equip madrassa students with a robust digital education and bring them in line with other education boards.
The UP government’s announcement is a major step towards integrating digital literacy, coding and AI into the curriculum of madrassa education in the state.
In addition, the government has also pledged support for the training of madrassa teachers for effective teaching of these subjects.
As part of this digital literacy initiative, an orientation module on AI will be launched on Wednesday in Lucknow. The training programme will include both school and madrassa teachers.
According to information provided via audio-visual experts, Monica S Garg, Additional Chief Secretary, Minority Welfare Department, will be responsible for developing this programme.
The training of teachers will play a vital role in delivering information about the new technology to madrassa students.
The scheme is intended to empower madrassa students with digital literacy and provide resources to facilitate the same.
Minority Welfare, Muslim Waqf and Haj Minister Dharampal Singh remarked that they have made some changes in the syllabus of Madrassa to connect them with mainstream and religious education. Prime Minister Narendra Modi once said that he wanted to see the children of poor Muslims having a Quran in one hand and a laptop in the other.
Singh also added that the Aadhaar verification of madrassa students has been done. At present, 13,92,325 students are studying in madrassas of the state. So far, computers have been provided to 1275 madrassas, and book banks, science kits and mathematics kits have been supplied to 7442 madrassas.
For the first time, Madrassa education is combined with basic education in which Madrasa students will be given knowledge of AI. By joining them with the mainstream, they intend to work for making them engineers, scientists, IAS and others.
