UNESCO in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), IndiaAI Mission, and Ikigai Law as the implementing partner, will be hosting a Stakeholder Consultation on AI Readiness Assessment Methodology (RAM) in India, at T-Works, Hyderabad, on Tuesday, 8th April 2025.

AI policy report

 The RAM exercise seeks to craft an India-specific AI policy report that identifies strengths and opportunities for growth within India’s thriving AI ecosystem, while providing actionable recommendations for ethical and responsible AI adoption. As part of this initiative, five stakeholder consultations are being held nationwide to foster dialogue, deepen understanding, and build a shared vision for ethical AI deployment. Each consultation includes key addresses by senior officials from MeitY and UNESCO, it also presents highlights from the Safe and Trusted pillar of the IndiaAI mission, and breakout sessions, allowing participants to share insights, engage collaboratively, and help shape the report's findings and recommendations.

Ethical AI deployment

 Building on the success of the first stakeholder consultation held in New Delhi in November 2024, and Bangalore in January 2025, the third consultation in Hyderabad is being organized continuingcontining ues this crucial dialogue by delving deeper into actionable strategies. By focusing on ethical AI deployment across governance, workforce readiness, infrastructure, and sectoral use cases, this consultation seeks to elicit inputs from key stakeholders on the gaps and opportunities to ensure the development of an inclusive and responsible AI ecosystem.

Key objectives of the AI RAM consultation

1. An overview Offer an ooverviewverview of the IndiaAI Mission, highlighting its strategic goals in establishing India as a global leader in safety and ethics in AI innovation and governance.
2. Showcasing To showcase real-world applications and best practices of safety and ethics in AI deployment in India and its potential benefits.
3. Discussing key principles of ethics in AI and provide a comprehensive overview of UNESCO's Recommendation on the Ethics of AI and the RAM and its relevance to India's AI landscape.
4. Convening e key stakeholders in the AI eco-system of India and elicit inputs on the five key dimensions of the UNESCO AI RAM.
5. Identifying and discussing comparative advantages, priorities, and potential synergies across the AI ecosystem as well as gaps and challenges.
6. Reflecting on effective strategies and forward-looking policy recommendations to develop a potential AI policy roadmap.
