As an industry body, NASSCOM has always been deeply involved with evangelizing and lobbying for advancements in technology. NASSCOM is the apex body of the Indian IT-BPM industry and plays a key role in strengthening the industry's technology innovation agenda. 2022 witnessed NASSCOM initiatives for the development of AI in India.

AI Adoption Index: NASSCOM, along with EY and with support from Microsoft, EXL and Capgemini, developed a first-of-its-kind AI Adoption Index for India. The study 'Tracking India's Sectoral Progress on AI Adoption' intends to assess AI adoption in India and dive deep into the four key sectors leading India's AI story - BFSI, CPG and Retail, Healthcare, and Industrials and Automotive.

"These sectors contribute nearly 70 per cent of the $500 billion in value that AI and data can unlock for India. As AI becomes more and more pervasive, it has become tremendously important to assess the level of sectoral adoption and evaluate the levers influencing it," said Debjani Ghosh, President of NASSCOM, while making the announcement.

Responsible AI resource kit: The Responsible AI Resource Kit is the culmination of a collaboration between NASSCOM and leading industry partners to seed the adoption of responsible AI at scale. NASSCOM Responsible AI hub was launched by Abhishek Singh, President & CEO of NeGD, on 11th October 2022. It is a collaboration between NASSCOM and leading industry partners to seed the adoption of responsible AI at scale.

Abhishek Singh stated that the biggest challenge in India is ensuring that the business interests match the responsible AI principles. He also emphasized the need for a multidisciplinary approach to the development of AI. "We leave out many disciplines that are more valuable for AI than physics, chemistry and mathematics", he said. Abhishek Singh added that the government would benefit from the responsible AI resource kit for implementing various programs.

Revv Up Program: NASSCOM, in collaboration with the Government of Telangana, announced the Revv Up program in 2022. Revv Up, in line with the vision of the Govt of Telangana, will build India's homegrown AI community that is keenly trained to solve and address native challenges based on inferences and insights from locally-available datasets.

The T-AIM's previous two cohorts were a huge success. Fifteen startups interacted with the Government of Telangana to explore Proof of Concept opportunities, and 2-3 signed MoUs or received pilot opportunities. In addition, more than 40 startups pitched to more than 35 investors, and some have either received funding or are on the verge of being funded soon. Two of its startups bagged awards at the G20 Digital Innovation Network (DIN) recently held in Bali, Indonesia. 4 to 5 startup companies were nominated by T-AIM for the event.

The third cohort was powered by NASSCOM, just like the first two.

Academic Grand Challenge: Telangana AI Mission (T-AIM), powered by NASSCOM, introduced the Academic Grand Challenge. The challenge's objective is to foster an entrepreneurial spirit amongst the students. In this challenge, student teams from colleges across India are expected to build solutions for two areas. One involves building a futuristic digital bank that integrates modern technologies to enable banking wherever and whenever. The other will require a predictive analytics model to estimate if and when the financial markets will crash this year.
