IndiaAI Compute Capacity

Union Minister of Electronics & IT, Railways, and I&B announces the availability of 18,000+ affordable AI compute units! Eligible users can access AI compute at up to 40% reduced cost under the IndiaAI Mission. Empanelment of AI compute, network, storage and cloud services has begun, with bidders offering diversified AI compute units, ensuring accessible and cost-effective AI resources for India's growing ecosystem to ensure broader access to AI infrastructure and enhance global competitiveness through innovation.

Under the IndiaAI Compute Pillar, the Mission is developing a scalable AI computing ecosystem to support India's growing AI startup and research community. This initiative includes the establishment of a state-of-the-art AI compute infrastructure featuring 18,000+ GPUs, built through public-private partnerships. The Union Minister of Electronics & IT, Railways, and I&B has announced that eligible users can access AI compute at up to 40% reduced cost under the IndiaAI Mission, which has a budgetary outlay of ₹10,372 Cr.

As part of this initiative, an RFE for empanelment of agencies providing AI services on cloud was published on August 16, 2024, followed by a corrigendum on September 26, 2024. After a thorough evaluation, 10 bidders have been selected to offer diversified AI compute units, including Intel Gaudi 2, AMD MI300X, NVIDIA H100, H200, A100, and AWS Tranium. The empanelment will be valid for 36 months, with a 12-month extension option, ensuring transparent and accessible AI resources for India's AI ecosystem.
